Overview:

The UTMB BLDG 17 Project – consisted of installing 185ea augercast piles at 18-inch in diameter ranging to depths of 40 to 135ft long to support a six-story (93,000sqft) building expansion at the UTMB campus in Galveston, Texas.  We installed a total of 40ea augercast piles to depth of 135ft as required around the perimeter of the jobsite which was a ground breaking event for our company, the longest continuous flight auger pile installed to date.    The existing jobsite was approx. 14,000sqft which made it a challenge every day to be productive while keeping in mind an exit strategy.  Through extensive problem solving and communication we were able to provide a safe, efficient and quality product to our client ahead of schedule.  AHB completed a load test program consisting of a compression pile and tested to 2x’s design load.  Piles were installed with a 248HSL Link-belt boom crane in order utilize the space we had as well as to support the 150ft+ continuous flight auger and leads setup required to install the deep piles.
