A.H. Beck performs a foundation test and installs two drilled shafts 177 feet deep for this project in Mobile, Alabama.
The Alabama Dept. of Transportation is undertaking their largest infrastructure project ever including 8 miles of bridges featuring a large cable stayed bridge across the Mobile River. To aid in the design and bidding of this $2 Billion Public-Private Partnership, a foundation test program was performed. There were multiple tests including axial and lateral tests on driven piles and drilled shafts. A H Beck installed the two drilled shaft test piles to a depth of 177 feet. The axial tests were run by AFT using a bi-directional internal load cell and the lateral capacities were tested by the Statnamic Test method.
