A.H. Beck installs 580 auger cast piles for a 33-story luxury condominium tower in Houston, Texas.
A.H. Beck Foundation Company, Inc. was contracted to install 580 auger cast piles for the 33-Story premier luxury condominium tower (Arabella). The auger cast piles were 18” diameter and 95-ft in length and were all located within the very small site footprint of 200-ft by 100-ft. Prior to production pile installation, AHB installed the test pile and reaction piles and performed the compression load test to confirm site conditions and pile carrying capacity. During the production installations, additional Thermal Integrity Testing and Statnamic testing was added to the scope to due to the concerns of changes in soil conditions identified by AHB use of the Pile Installation Recorder (PIR). Upon completion of the auger cast portion of the project, AHB was asked by the client to design and construct a temporary retaining wall to support the vertical soil walls created during the excavation of the pile caps.
