Overview:

AH Beck provided several different sizes of drilled pier foundations for South Carolina’s VC Summer Unit 2 nuclear power plant switchyard.  Unit 2 is the first nuclear reactor to begin construction in the United States in over 30 years, and will house the world’s first Westinghouse AP1000 pressurized water reactor.  AH Beck’s concrete forms and piers complied with +/- ¼” lateral tolerance standards for structures in close proximity to the reactor.  VC Summer Unit 2 is scheduled to deliver 1,100 megawatts of power to South Carolina, beginning in June 2019.
