A.H. Beck installs 2000 rigid inclusion ground improvement elements for the heavier casting building at the Tesla facility in Austin, Texas.

Overview:

A.H. Beck performed the installation of 2,000 12” diameter rigid inclusion ground improvement elements to support the heavier casting building at the Tesla facilityDue to the tight schedule from the client, three (3) Oruga Self Contained European machines were setup with continuous flight auger systems and cable crowd to tag the load bearing layer at a depth of around 35-ft and worked around the clock 24 hours a day (2 shifts)Upon completion of the rigid inclusions, AH Beck was asked by the contractor to help them in the excavation of the deeper Geopiers where the soil conditions would not allow conventional excavation methods due to ground water and caving soilsThe continuous flight system allowed the pier to be excavated in one stroke and penetrate the troublesome layer and then be completed with the impact tools. Each rig was able to complete well over 100 excavations per shift.
