Overview:

A.H. Beck, working as a subcontractor to Jaynes Corp, completed the deep foundations to support the new expansion to the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NMThe deep foundation elements consisted of 18-in diameter by 50 to 75 foot deep Auger Cast PilesAHB worked with the client and engineers to value engineer the approach of converting the project foundations from large diameter drilled shafts to auger cast pile deep foundation elements, and proving the element axial capacities via a load test programThrough the implementation of this deep foundation method, the cost and schedule were able to be optimized to benefit the project.  AHB coordinated one drilling rig, working with and around multiple other crafts during drilling on multiple grade elevations within the very small project limits of 200’ x 400within a 20’ shored excavationMultiple old existing buildings and overhangs forced the team to install auger cast piles in restricted access conditions and within inches of sensitive buildings.
