Overview:

Working for the NCDOT and as a Subcontractor to Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Incorporated, AH Beck Foundation Company is installing drilled shafts for this nearly three quarters of a mile long structure over the Intracoastal Waterway. This high profile project will replace the current bridge which was constructed in the 1930’s and will greatly ease the traffic burden that exists for the community and beach goers. Overall the foundation consists of 108-48” shafts along with 68-60” shafts. Plan depths vary from 90 feet to 117 feet deep. The shafts were constructed with polymer slurry due to the soft clays and silts.  We successfully completed two Osterberg Load Tests which allowed the NCDOT to shorten some of the plan lengths and afforded a considerable cost savings to the Owner.
