A.H. Beck install 133 augercast piles into a limestone formation two support two storage tanks and pipe racks in Tampa, Florida
A. H. Beck installed 133 – 16” augercast piles up to 40 feet in length through the soft clayey sands found in the upper layers around this facility and terminating into the limestone formation to support two large storage tank foundations and associated pipe racks. Due to terminating into the limestone and the tight work areas Beck utilized one of the self-contained hydraulic rotary rigs that was adapted to run continuous flight augers. This type of equipment was very effective with its full length crowd system to be able to crowd into the limestone. The project included two 650 kip Statnamic Load Tests to verify the foundation design. All work was completed while working in an operational industrial plant.
