Overview:

The project required installing and testing four 60in diameter drill shafts. Two of the drill shafts were 30ft deep and tested laterally and two were 80ft and 70ft deep which were tested axially. Applied Foundation Testing (AFT) performed the load testing and Chiyoda Corporation and Kiewit a JV (CKJV) finalized the design. The final design included 487 60in diameter drill shafts of varying depths from 60ft to 125ft. At a minimum ten percent of all the drill shafts were required to be integrity tested by Cross Hole Sonic Logging which was performed and reported by Applied Foundation Testing (AFT). The project schedule was critical and it was determined by the delivery dates of pre-assembled modules which drove the need for mobilizing and utilizing five drill rigs.
