OCCI, Inc. contracted A.H. Beck for the drilled shaft foundations of the Kansas City Southern Railroad's new 1150-foot international bridge in Laredo, TX. The US portion of the bridge consisted of six 96-inch diameter interior bent shafts and two 60-inch diameter abutment shafts permanently cased down to a sandstone layer with up to 40 feet rock sockets. Two of the bents were on the south side of the Rio Grande River which required accessing the locations via a work trestle over the river and then hoisting equipment down 30 feet to the work area below.
